All-Star Competition, February 8, a Big Success

All-Star Sunday became Saturday, as the Boisvert-Arena hosted their very own skills competition for the local players. The first event saw Greg Earle take the fastest time in the Puck Control Relay at 20.34 seconds. Josh Fassle had a close 21.5 second time and his brother Jason recorded a 23.56 second third place finish.
The Fastest Skater competition went to speedy Josh Fassle at 18.6 seconds. Mickey, Greg's Uncle came in second at 20.37 and Greg followed with a time of 20.59.
Patrick McGowan surprised everyone by taking the Accuracy Shooting contest, hitting three out of the four targets! His brother Jeremy hit two for second place. A four way tie with 1 target hit went to Jason Fassle, Micky, Lawrence Harrison and Josh Fassle.
The Hardest Shot went to Josh Fassle.

Rink Liner Ends Seasons of "Thin Ice".

The 2002-03 season started early at the "Boisvert Arena". Pouring started in very early December, 2002 and skating season opened December 3. That lasted for awhile, until the warmup! Temperatures soared into the 50's by mid-December, and lasted way past Christmas. The ice in the rink was thin in spots and gone in others. Jim and Edie decided that a new system needed to be implemented. A rink liner was purchased, picked up and put down within three days and water poured into it to an average depth of 4 inches. Once the "big chill" returned, a large sheet of ice also made an appearance. Bare ground and "thin ice" are a thing of the past at the Arena these days.

The Boisvert Arena received National Recognition Friday, February 7, 2003 as it was awarded First Place in a "Best Backyard Rink" Contest sponsored by "NiceRink". Over 65 friends, neighbors and players spent the day with Bobby, getting autographs, sharing stories and taking photos with "The Golden Jet". An incredible day was had by all!
